SOOOO sorry to whip the dead horse, but correct me if im wrong, ive been reading a lot of the threads on buying 80 lowers in the raw or anodized. I understand the anodizing makes them harder protecting the pin holes from wear and getting oval but once you drill through and don't re anodize the inside, aren't the inside of those holes now weak because they have exposed aluminum? making it a waste of money.. I would like to get one bare and refinish it somehow after im done milling, but not sure with what.wondering if its a waste to spend the$ on an anodized one

just a thought on anodized lowers

I personally would never spend money on a non-anodized one.
Get the raw one and get it anodized to make it last -
Thoughts on paint and kns anti walk pins to protect the holes from wear Since they won't be anodized once I drill through the finishComment

Well it was all about the money and time.
The hard black type lll 80% lower
was $10 more than a bare lower.
After machining, deburring, degreasing
and light coat of clp on the bare aluminum.
Installed lpk. Attached upper, color matched
perfect. Looked like any other AR except
no markings.
Vs machine, bead blast, engrave ~$70 if wanted,
Type lll hard black ~90.
About 1800 rounds through so far, pins
still tight and inside looks clean no oxidation.
If they ever look to loosen I will
install a kls kit.Comment

You know you can do you own anodizing, right?Comment

I would buy raw so I don't have to worry about mucking up the finish working out the last 20%. After it's all done and I know it works, then get it anodized. And there's a lot more colors than black.
