I always love this kind of stuff. I want done, done right, done right now... Yeah it don't work that way. Unless you make an appointment with Randal, most smiths are going to make to get in line like everybody else.

I can do it. I am licensed so you can send it to me so you only have to drive to UPS, and no, you can't watch or have me do it while you wait.

Rule of thumb for requests like yours... you can have it fast, cheap, and done right. Pick two.

I have not ordered the rail (yet).

I'm sure it's probably a simple, Gunsmith 101 type project, but I want it done right. Can you suggest anyone?
I don't mind driving, but I'd prefer to avoid two trips.
In other words, if I need to drive an hour +, I'd prefer it if the Smith could do it while I wait.
Get the rail and then schedule a time to come over.
I can do it while you wait.

I gotta admit... That was funny.
Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

OP. Maybe you can pull the barrel off (Thats easy) and SEND it to Randall. Send him a PM and ask if that is possible.

The rail goes on the RECEIVER.
At least it always did on the other ones I have drilled and tapped for rails...

The "top end" of a Ruger Auto is the serialized part so it's the "receiver", and the frame is not. The opposite of a 1911.
