Slide to frame fit is overrated. As long as the barrel returns to the same location in relation to the sights, the gun will be accurate. Therefore the barrel fit, barrel quality, and trigger pull are 95% of the colt's accuracy improvement areas.

+1 to that.
The only reason for a tight slide/frame fit is so you can mount the gun in a ransom rest and shoot pretty groups to make people feel good about spending $2000 on the gun.
