Two ways to do it.

One, you have an original or accurate drawing of the part and simply copy it.

Two, you have an original part and need to make a drawing from it. I'm sure you're talking about this. So....

Depending upon the complexity of the part, you will need caliper, micrometer, and possibly a set of pin gauges to take measurements with. And a CAD system to recreate the part in 3D which can then be turned into a 2D drawing. Since the part likely has angles and they need to be accurately measured, you'll need some sort of optical measuring system like a MicroVu. I have all that available but likely don't have the time to do it.

Also keep in mind that the part you're trying to document is very likely pretty well worn so that any recreation will be of a worn part with geometry and dimensions off to one degree or another. The very best way would be to also have available the parts that the ejector fit into. By also measuring those parts, a more accurate assessment of the original part and it's original design intent can be made.

In the end, some fine tuning will be required to make the part work. This is where craftsmanship comes into play.

Neither Kinkos or Fedex will make a blueprint or CAD model from a part.
That takes a 3d scanner or a person to measure and draw the part.

This, all of it, precisely. Also, clearly from the answer, sonofeugene knows about 6E+42 times about this than I ever will. Having said that, it also sortof depends on how precise it needs to be to work, and to whom you're supplying it, for what.

Because I'd much rather be doing pointless CalGuns fiddling rather than my real job, plus I don't mind the practice at a new CAD system I'm fiddling with, this took me about a half hour to throw together, purely by eyeball from the photo:


That's currently a solid model, and (except for the fact that I guessed at every single dimension and angle) would be sendable to a 3D printer now.

Turning that into a mechanical drawing is an exercise in clicking the drawing button, and then adding about 6 jillion dimension, angle, surface finish, and treatment notes.



All that said, if you just need one, grab a piece of steel and a set of files.
