    Polishing

Recently aquired a gun online. When it arrived it appears as though a previous owner tried to polish the barrel hood bright.
It's bright metal now, the blueing has been completely removed, but the are striations where a too abrasive tool was used.
Best way to describe it is it fairly looks like a wood grain running length wise with the barrel. I took a very very fine paper to it but only succeeded in brightening the surface!
Suggestions I can try? I've thought of just sending it out to have it jeweled.
    Thanks

Have it bead blasted than refinished.

1000 grit sand paper and a couple of hours polishing in front of cnn. I can live with it now.

You can go to home depot and get 1500 grit or an auto parts store and get up to 2000.
