AR15 Barrel Compatibility

Hello,

I wanted to replace the barrel in one of my AR15 rifles. So I did a search and found a barrel that had what I was looking for, or at least close enough. It is a POF Puritan match barrel: http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/POF_.../pof-00730.htm and I put it on order last night. However I got to doing research on the POF company and it seems they specialize in AR15 rifles with gas piston systems. I am wanting to replace the barrel in my direct impingement AR15 rifle. Will it be compatible? Will I be able to use this barrel? Thank you in advance.

Don't know for sure but it should not be an issue

The piston system still utilizes gas from the gas port. The only difference is that it harnesses the power at the front site and a regular gas system pushes that power back to the bolt. That being said as long as the gas hole is of standard size and you can put a regular gas port on it then you should be able to use it with no issues.

Better not be 0.750, That's 3/4"you won't have any barrel left.

Some gas piston systems use a smaller gas port in the barrel than a similar configuration direct impingement barrel.
If your gun short strokes after the barrel swap, you might need to open up the gas port to the proper size.
