Has anyone found any replacement fan style nozzles other than the brownells that will fit the aluma hyde can? The nozzle that came with the can gets clogged up about every 2 minutes and starts to splatter. I've read the replacement nozzles from brownells are even worse. So I'm wondering if there are better nozzles out there?

Aluma Hyde replacement nozzles

I've looked for replacement nozzles for other spray paint brands and all I could come up with are some on amazon and ebay that are sold by shops meant for taggers. They are available in several spray patterns and reasonably priced. I have not bought any yet but I need to as several of my nozzles are clogged. The koolaid only works if EVERYONE drinks it - Jim Jones -
I keep a can of brake clean handy when using alumahyde. When the nozzle clogs I remove the nozzle and squirt some thru to remove the clog. Works well. Also shaking the can very well helps with clogging."Every great cause begins as a movement, becomes a business, and eventually degenerates into a racket."

Yea, I used some mineral spirits to clean the nozzle. But it literally takes a min or two to clog up again. You don't get a warning when it clogs up, it will just splatter all over the item you're spraying. I would like to find nozzles that don't clog up within a few minutes. I've also found a few fan style nozzles on ebay, but I have no clue if the stems on the nozzles will fit the hole in the aluma hyde can. I have a few regular spray paint cans around that have similar nozzles. However, the stems on the nozzles are a tiny bit thicker and do not fit into the aluma hyde can. Do these nozzles have a size code?

I have not had this problem. I shake the can like crazy for a couple minutes before using and then periodically during. I also turn the can upside down and blow out the nozzle between coats. If I don't use the whole can, I make sure to use the brownells cleanout nozzles too.Comment

Brownells once sent me a bag full of spare nozzles for free for another of their canned coating products - a spray on rubber coating if I remember right, which really gummed up the nozzles. This was 15+ years ago but their customer service is still good, might give them a call. I still have a bunch of those nozzles

I fill the sink with hot water and hear up the spray cans...
I shake them before heating, during heating, and after heating...
I saved old nozzles from rattle cans and drilled out the nozzle. When the Alumnahyde clogs as nozzle
1- swap to the drilled out nozzle and let a stream come out to ensure the tube in the can is clear.
2- use brake cleaner- insert the tube from the brake cleaner against the bottom of the nozzle and squirt
if that does not work, use the inside of the cap as a soak tank for the nozzle....
For my best results-
Shaking 3 times more than suggested on the label
Warming the product to at least 80 degrees
Using fresh stock- if it has been in a cabinet for 1 year.... it almost always clogs the nozzleRule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)
Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

I know all about the shaking the snot out of the can before using it. I shook the snot out of it. I even shook it between coats. Some people do not have the clogging of the nozzle problem, while others do.
Using a drill to open up the nozzle? Wouldn't that make it spray streams of paint?

Yeah it happens to me also. I plan to finish the coating stage within a few minutes. But if it goes longer, I just pop off the old nozzle and put on a new one. The Brownells replacement comes with a dozen.
Tip from another calgunner regarding shaking: remove nozzle, wrap can in towel, put in the dryer for 5min. Comes out shaken and warm.Comment

Place the can in warm water for a few minutes. Shake like crazy redip shake some more. Then spray. As for the brownells sprayer tips they aer better than the one on the can.
Hope this helps
