I have a rifle that someone re barreled and didn't mark. Anyone in SD that knows how to do it. I hear you can use a low temp melting metal but that's out of my wheelhouse right now.

Yes there is, the method and or technique only requires a minimal understand of shop skills. But, woe be onto the person that makes an attempt to assist. I do not find it necessary to do it 'every time' but it is possible to measure the chamber without opening the bolt.
You did mention 'wheel house' then added "right now".
I do not suggest loaded ammo be used when checking chambers.
