Brownells has a great series on you tube for alumnahyde 2
Follow the steps and you will be fine.Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)
Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

FYI, OSH tends to have a better selection than HD for these products and almost always has mineral spirits. I tend to like kerosene/diesel as it's much easier on my hands. Mineral spirits is tough on the skin (itches, creates rash, etc...). OSH does have mineral spirits and in this case would better as kerosene slightly lubricates the metal which would be less desirable for painting.sigpic--------- liber --------

I really prefer acetone for final pre-paint wipedown on bare metal. If you already have a coat down, then I would use wax/grease remover and a high ammonia oe alcohol/streakless glass cleaner. The wax grease remover will get 90% of all contaminants, the windex will remove your fingerprints etc. neither will leave a residue that would interfere with adhesion. Straight alcohol works as well.Fear is the spare change that will keep you broke
