stuck ak hammer pin

So what is the best way to get a stuck pin out. The lip of the pin is stuck on the lip of the rail. After I get it out what is the best way to stop this from happening again. Thanks.

Is it the left side of the receiver that the pin is hanging up on? If so rock it the hammer back and forth until you line the pin up with the right side and lightly tap it back in to where it should be. Then you should be able to remove as normal. The head of the pin has a groove that sometimes will hang up on the side of the hole when you try to take it out.

Yes its stuck on the left side. I have been wiggling the hammer to line it up better and can't get it to go either way. It did come out about an eigth of an inch. Guess I'll keep mess with it until it comes out. Thanks.

Twist it back and forth until it looks straight and then tap it in place. It must be lined up on the other side. Once the pin is back in normal operation mode take a punch and hit it medium hard so that the pin head breaks free of the receiver. If sticks to the side you didn't hit it hard enough or straight enough.Try again.

Assuming that you first removed the pin retaining plate or shepards hook, and lifted the hammer spring legs up and they are both resting on the hammer...the pin should be fairly easy to line up and tap in or out.

Ya I did end up getting it out. I was wrong on which side it went through the rail and the receiver though. I ended up grabbing the head of the pin in the vice and it still was a pain to get out. I think the side that goes through the rail is a tad tight and was causing a binding issue.
