Gunsmith help in north la county? Trigger install

If you JUST want the triggers swapped and setup for overtravel, I can do it.
There should not be any need to screw with the sear/hammer/disconnector if only swapping triggers.Randall Rausch

I got some help from a pretty knowledgeable fellow Calguns member and the 10-8 trigger swap on the STI Range Master was easy and smooth. When we got to my STI Trojan it wouldn't take. There is a very odd and audible "CLICK" when pulling the trigger every couple pulls not letting the hammer drop fully which was very strange. We ended up putting the original trigger in and all was good? Very weird. I think the Trojan will just have to stay as is. I used to live close to STI and would of loved to just bring it to them since they are 1911 professionals and built it but oh well.Comment

No. If you are talking the 1/8th inch or so tabs near the trigger itself.Comment

Better triggers have those little tabs.
The tabs are so you can shorten the total trigger travel by removing most of the take-up.Randall Rausch

The 10-8 trigger has a steel over travel stop on the back of the shoe. This stop must be fit to allow the sear to clear the half-cock notch on your hammer.I got some help from a pretty knowledgeable fellow Calguns member and the 10-8 trigger swap on the STI Range Master was easy and smooth. When we got to my STI Trojan it wouldn't take. There is a very odd and audible "CLICK" when pulling the trigger every couple pulls not letting the hammer drop fully which was very strange. Was yours fit? Or did you drop it in?
The pre-travel tabs are good for adjusting takeup (which is not the issue here), which are missing on this trigger because it is a "tactical" trigger.
P.S. Might want to recheck your sear primary. It only takes a few slams against the half cock notch to ruin an excellent trigger job.Last edited by Limited-Ten; 07-22-2015, 3:51 PM.Comment

I'll hazard a guess that he just dropped it in and that overtravel stop is the problem.Randall Rausch
