if you look at the plate they all add up to 1.250" which just so happens to be the inside width of the AK receiver

the print you have is just for the plug not the die. it was never ment to have a die to be used down inside

if you do make one it needs to be 1mm, 1.3mm or 1.5mm wider then your 1.250" dimension depending on what flat you are using.

Correction I was tired and thinking straight

If you do make one it will need separate pusshers for each receiver flat thickness you use but the out side dimension stays the same.

This is the pre AKbuilder fixture and is just meant so that you can hammer the metal over on the plug and you notice you could also hammer over your top rails too as the old original flats didn't have bent top rails

I might be confused but the outside widths of 1 & 1.5 mm flats are the same, wouldn't he want to narrow the stamp to account for the flat thickness?

Plug is reduced, outside width stays the same.

The inner plug width is 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.75 = 1.25" I can make the center plug from either 3/8" or 3/4" flat bar.

The bottom plate is for use with a 1 mm flat and will produce a channel (receiver itself) with an inside width of 1.31 in the front and (0.68+0.66) = 1.34" in the back, which means the box the plug is pushed into must be 1.349" in the front and 1.379" in the back to allow for the 1mm of material. Is that correct?

What dimension changes if I used a thicker flat, like a 1.5mm? The plug (reduced by 1 mm) or the box (increased by 1mm)?

I think the print is wrong.

the base plate should have the same dimension front and rear.

as for the dimentional change the trunnions are reduced and so is your plug

a 1.5mm flat would need a plug reduced to 1.210" sorry about that.

yep that's it and you reduce the plug not increase the box
