92fs fails to go in battery

My recently acquired newer 92fs fails to go into battery at times. I can shoot a couple of rounds but it stays locked back with more rounds in the magazine.

    Any advice ?

Need more information; factory or reloads, have you tried different mags, is the gun lubed? That kind of stuff.

Check the slide release, it should have a spring leg pushing it back down when pulled up and released. If not, there is your issue. The spring is item #20.

With the slide off the gun, pull up on the release a little, and it should snap right back down. If it works, fine, if not, either the spring broke, or it was installed incorrectly. The 92 is a well laid out pistol, and easy to service as far as the frame is concerned.

also ive seen people who shoot other guns grip th 92 in a way that their hand/fingers creep up and put just enough pressure on the slide stop to bugger it up and leave the slid locked back. good luck

Recently acquired - was it new? If so, you need to field strip it, remove the factory crud. and use CLP or even better EEZox to lube the whole slide.

No kidding. Its been a topic on BerettaForum.net since time 0.

I mention it because it happened to me. I hope that's your issue.

It should go without mentioning that you should do this to any weapon you buy.
But thats me and that's 35 years of being around weapons and machinery having that maintenance ritual drilled in your head by a former farm boy turned Marine rifleman

I personally never shoot a new weapon out of the box, It gets taken home, striped, cleaned, oiled, and then it can go to the range.

Agree completely. No gun should ever hit the range with assembly/storage lubricant in it.

Yep, To many people think a weapon is good to go out of the box, that ain't so and can get you hurt,

Some goes for me since the beginning of time

The above might be the problem since all springs check out ok. I'll take her for a spin Monday and report back.
