Harbor freight tap and die set for threading saiga barrel?

Don't flame if this is a dumb question, but could I thread ak barrels with this set? Namely my saiga barrels, seems like a good price and probably good to have around if anyone else needed to borrow.

Nope, none of those dies will work. You need 14x1LH for std 7.62 barrel

find someone in your area with a lathe that knows how to single point and have them do it. much better then a die any day.

Those dies are good for cleaning up the threads but not doing a complete job. Lathe is the best option and follow kcscott advice

A good general rule to follow when shopping at Harbor Freight:

Never buy anything with a cutting edge!

Guess how I know that! I buy a lot of stuff there, as there is one close by and some of the stuff is a great deal. But cutting edges require a lot more quality than Harbor Freight normally offers. Cheap cutting tools work very poorly, leaving you with bad results and wasted time and money.

CNC Warrior has the kit you need I just did my saigia turned out perfect. I put a Lantec Drakon muzzle brake on it .

Harbor freigh taps and dies are OK for light use.

For threading a barrel, you really want a tool that goes into the bore to ensure the threads are concentric to the bore and not just the barrel
