Look on craigslist, you can usually find them used pretty cheap.

I've had the 12 ton for about 33 years; there have been a few jobs pushing bushings for my backhoe that would have benefitted from the 20 ton. Gun building all you need is the 12.

the stock 12 ton is 130 right now for 25 more you can get the 20 which is a great deal not to mention it is a lot nicer having the larger frame as it gives you more space to support parts that you are working on.

I bought the 20 ton about 10 years ago.
The first thing I did was machine the press plates flat and square.
They are cast, not as strong as steel plate. They can crack if not used properly so be careful.

It might help if you told us what kind of work you were planning on doing with your press. Most of us have the H frame because it's vastly more capable than the A frame. What is your intended use?

This, other than in online ads I have not seen an Aframe press...

Well.i had just read that the a frame design requires a lot out of the box tweaking and if a more solid press due to design. Mainly using it for builds but im sure other uses will come up.

i was at harbor freight earlier and took a pic of the two different presses just so you understand how much size difference there is. to me the 12ton is just too small.
Ok so with that code and buying it online it comes out to $154 base cost but is going to cost me $96 to ship. I don't see the savings. I have a store less than 5 mins from me but without the coupon how do I get the discount?

Someone here knows how to email you the coupon. My computer skills are limited.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

The 12 ton is enough to build an AKM, but to press out barrel stubs on a Yugo kit it is a PITA and you sometimes need a big hammer to smack the press to get the stubs to break free.
The 20 gives you more power...when you need it, it is well worth the extra $$.
You can always go to autozone/oreillys/harbor freight/etc and pick up a 12 ton bottle jack and use it in place of the 20 ton for things that you need "more feel for". Then you have the best of both worlds.
