Rem Model 7 300BLK Feed Issue

I purchased this rifle a few weeks ago and it has a strange issue that I've never seen in any bold action rifle that I've ever owned.
With the bolt open, I push one round onto the magazine follower, but it does not catch or hold the single round down inside the magazine box.
If I force two rounds in at the same time it does hold the rounds, but the second round jumps loose after the first is cycled.
I now have a single shot bolt action rifle. Any ideas on a quick fix?

My plan is to use this a a light weight hunting rifle. Swap out and bed the stock and replace the trigger.
Would it be cost effective (and more reliable) at this time in the 300BLK to have it feed from a detachable mag?

    Thanks

Any chance you took the gun apart and flipped the magazine box upside down when you reassembled it?

Perhaps you have a 308 magazine box instead of a 223 magazine box?
A 223 magazine box will be narrower to help the cartridges properly stack against the feed lips.
Does your magazine box have a 1/2" long spacer or filler at the rear like this?

Randall, It appears that it has something at the rear.
It's new to me, and I've had it on the range one time. No disassembly
      on my part.

        That's a start.
Has the gun been taken apart and re-assembled incorrectly?
        Perhaps before you received it?

          No clue on taken apart.
I was listed as new but appears to have been fired
          with a scope installed.
In your above Pic of the box, it's right side up.
Left = front / Right = rear correct?
I'll take it apart and have a look tomorrow.

          Thanks

              Here are more pictures.
With the snap cap pushed back against the black spacer,
I still have 1/2" from tip to feed ramp.
This magazine box just seems to large for the 300BLK. -g

I didn't even notice that it was crooked.
As you suggested I removed the trigger guard, centered box,
and it's now feeding and throwing snap caps like a bad rat!
I really need to get another stock, bed it, and drop
a Timny in this thing just to tighten things up.
                    Thanks Randall, you da man.
