    mp5 build

So i just bought an mp5 parts kit from hk parts and im planning on building it into a mp5 rifle with a fake can and full stock. I have the receiver flat already but i dont have any jigs. Does anyone have the flat bending jigs that i can barrow or loan for acouple of days? i already have a mig welder and 20 ton press just need the jigs for right now.

also does anyone know any good build guides that go step by step? there isnt really anything on youtube.

does anyone have a jig that i can barrow?

the write up is very good but its still missing some parts such as installing the front tree and how far to press the barrel into the trunnion etc

the tutorial tells you how to check headspace (bolt gap), you push the barrel into the trunnion until it headspaces correctly.

i know about checking the bolt gap, just wish he would have went into more detail on pressing the barrel in.

not sure how much more detail he could go into. you just press the barrel in until the bolt gap is where you want it. there was never any dimension we cared about as for amount the barrel got pressed in. you just pressed it in until the bolt gap closed down to what you wanted.

              This.
press barrel a little check bolt gap rinse and repeat until satisfied with bolt gap, then drill and pin the barrel in place. Remember that the bolt gap will decrease as the rifle wears so I was taught to built it at the higher end of the acceptable gap.

so what would be the recommended gap .016" ? so what your saying basically as the gun gets used more and more the parts will wear removing material thickness on the rollers and other parts causing what was lets say starting .016" gap to move closer to 0. are there any good ways to line up the front tree, which im guessing should be done after the barrel is pressed through the trunnion. i plan on starting to demill my parts kit this weekend, if i cant find someone to loan me their jig ill have to eat a bullet and probably just purchase the jig online.

yes, we normally aimed for .016'" bolt gap.

                              Yes.
Either install new ones, or at least verify that yours are in good condition before you headspace the gun so that you don't end up building a gun that will go out of spec if you ever need to replace rollers.
