    Springfield model 67 series e .410 question

I just picked up the above. I loaded it with 3 shells. When I went to rack a round, one shell came out from the bottom feed port. It appears as if the feed rack does not have enough downward tension on it.

What do I need to replace? I hopefully will not have to disassemble it to figure it out, so I can order a part and disassemble and fix.

    You possibly loaded it incorrectly.

Most of these old Springfield's need to have one round loaded and racked in before you load the tube. It was and is the way you should load a shotgun.

My 20 gauge would malfunction on everyone but me. it would either try to double feed or drop a round out the bottom.

Problem goes away when you have a round in the chamber.

Ok, I loaded 5 in the tube and one in the pipe. When I ejected the first shell, the first in the tube shot out from the feed port. When I ejected the second loaded round, it did it again. Then the last two in the tube loaded properly.

Sounds likes the trigger group and feed chute need a good cleaning and lube.

I have the exact same model and caliber. Mine had a similar problem, but it was actually missing the cartridge stop and the screw and nut that hold it in.. I ended up having to order them from Western Gun Parts in Alberta, Canada. They seem to have most all the parts for Savage/Springfield/Stevens/Westpoint guns (mine's a Westpoint). I got the parts, but they are powerfully slow in the shipping of them! It took over a month after they said they had send them for them to arrive. I put them in and have a well-functioning little .410. It's a real hoot to take out, since it weighs darn little and kicks even less. Almost toy-like.

Do you have a picture so I can compare mine?
