Oh yeah! Been there done that same reasons you state. Actually i was practicing to gas weld. 1st time it blew off due to over pressure....1k rounds later i have people asking me why my gun doesnt recoil and how much did that cost....lol no reaon to spend $100 on a brake, a 20 cent washer will do.

People ask me why my gun don't recoil. I tell them it's a mediocre varmint cartridge. you know a .223???
