How the #&$@ do I remove a Bullet Button?

I am out of State In Montana and I want to un-neuter my Ar before I go shooting tomorow. I have tried everything, pliers, crecent wrench, oil and tried pushing out from the other side....no luck

You need a punch and punch it out from the other side.

Yea but I think he's hung up on the main body of the BB probably being hammered into the lower.

If you drove that shroud in without removing the ears at the base, your going to need to destroy the shroud to get it out. Unless you can get ahold of the base with a punch from the other side.

Clamp some vice grips on the sides and walk it out. Sand the ears of the new one before you put it in. It makes removing it SO much easier.

I'd installed one for a guy not too long ago with a hydraulic press. No, I didn't get stupid and use too much pressure; I just wanted it to go straight.

I removed it last week with a 3/8" or so punch, feeling around on the inside for the seam, and then tapping gently with a hammer. Came right out, and I hadn't done any filing on it. This was a BB1 design.

I need to take pics for a TGW article on this eventually.

Ended up not being able to get it out....that thing wont budge an inch (er...micrometer). I practically destroyed it trying to get that sucker out though, the channel lock pliers crushed the circle into an oval. I was able to bend it back into the correct shape but not soothe at all..... I will definitely be buying a new bullet button when I get home, quite possibly a B-15.

Did you loctite the "nut"/sleeve? I have the latest generation BB and have removed mine and re-installed a few times with no issues. The large AL piece (on mine) drops in and out without issue. To keep the "nut" in place I used Loctite 222MS -which is difficult to find (had to mail order). 222MS is for small fasteners and is more easily removed.

Don't remove it, just let the shooters at the range laugh at the 'Californian'.

                    Have fun.

Later model, probably. Earlier models had a bit of a burr intentionally left on it that would jam the main body into the mag release channel and require tools (and a bit of effort) for removal.
