Bullet Button in Classes

Another thread touched on this but I wanted to focus on this aspect.

Have you taken rifle classes with students or instructors using the bullet button?

If so, did they teach specifically for the button? Or did they just skip over the mag reload stuff that would be taught in an out of state class?

I think the way to approach this is take a button if they mind they mind if they don’t they don’t,

The local California classes might dive into that like PTS but the groups that run training circuits from out of state do not. I haven't seen a single BB in a class in maybe 3 years. Most now run registered or featureless.

When I took GrayOps carbine courses, the majority of the students were using bullet buttons and Gordon (main instructor and owner) himself taught with a bullet button equipped rifle for a majority of the course. He used UBBT equipped mags and the UBML on his.

They even have a section about the Bullet Button on their company website.

Cool, were there AK's too with BB or a UBBT? The UBBT looks like it almost mitigates the situation.

Featureless may be the way to go but it just feels and looks like an abomination that I can't stomach yet.

I'm signed up for the GrayOps combo course myself and found their website to be very helpful on BB matters. Wondering what your thoughts were on the different BB tool options (mag mod, magpul, ranger plate, ring, etc.) and opinion of the carbine course itself?

For the class I used the UBBT on my 10/20 mags from Thorsden and they worked fine. One thing I took away from the class as far as the UBBT is that it does work better when they are on the backside of the mag rather than the front. This is the way Gordon ran his and I immediately saw the benefit.

Overall the course is great for new/beginner shooters to using the carbine. If you already have a lot of experience you may find it slow paced. Otherwise the information and training GrayOps provides is top notch from instructors with a lot of real world experience. Being local they understand the myriad of CA laws and how to teach within that framework (i.e. the bullet button for example). All in all, learned a lot and had a fun time.

If you go in the summer bring a lot of water and sunscreen, it can get hot as heck out at Sac Valley. I've learned to try and schedule any courses I take there for the fall/spring.

Thanks for the feedback, Atekhed. This is my first class so the pace sounds fine. I figured that it would get pretty hot out there during the summer so I scheduled for the spring. Looking forward to it.
