    Shot Timer App Recommendation

I don't shoot competitively and don't need a dedicated shot timer, but figured you folks would know - anyone have decent experience with an iPhone shot timer app that will work at a typical square range with other shooters? I normally shoot indoors and hoping to find something with adequate sensitivity adjustment that I can time my shot string without interference from the next lane. I know there are some cool wearable ones that work off recoil but trying to keep the investment cost down for now.

    Thanks in advance!

Even with a real timer the noise from the next lane and all the echoes from indoors are going to be interesting. Maybe somebody would lend you the watch kind with the accelerometer. That's why they developed them...

Not sure I agree with that. I was there with some friends and friends of friends, one of which had one in thier iPhone. It seemed to work just fine. Semi crowded indoor range. I was having so much fun (as usual ) and forgot to ask which one it was.
        Sorry, not sorry.

I found the app types hard to hear.

No phone app, Android, has worked for me at an indoor range. Ever. For Iphone the Surefire shot timer app seems to be the best option. Again, I seriously doubt its ability to give you accurate information indoors with other shooters.

Competition Electronics wrote me when I requested information about how to use my timer better indoors with the advice of cranking down the sensitivity, placing the timer close to directly under where the barrel will be and finally building a foam barrier open only in front and top to attenuate the other shooters out.

As others have said, the Shotmaxx watch really is the only viable indoor alternative in my experience. But they are much more than a $2.00 phone app and get you the dedicated timer you don't want.

Indoors I think the best thing is to use a par time. A start beep and a stop beep. Complete whatever skill you're practicing within the allotted time. Adjust as needed. This can be done with a variety of phone and dedicated shot timers.

Mic it into your electronic ear protection and no one around you has to hear it either.
Competition is where you find out you're slow, can't see well, are not accurate, have poor gun handling, can't visualize, have equipment that doesn't work and either accept it OR DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

R att, that's not a bad option (par time).

I might give a couple iPhone apps a try and see how it goes. Surefire and Taurus seem to have good reports. At least the investment is low.
