Reloading techniques with a bullet button

I'm planning to attend some tactical rifle classes (and possibly competitions) here in CA with my BB equipped AR. I'm wondering if anyone has any tricks or special techniques for quick magazine changes using one of these devices?

I predominantly shoot left handed and use my right hand for mag release. I've been contemplating making a tool that I would wear on my right thumb like a ring (but in front of the knuckle). It would have a small shaft extending from the ring that could be used to activate the bullet button. Anyone tried something like this?

Also, I'd be interested to hear thoughts on 10/20 or 10/30 mags for these events. I'm generally of the opinion that the "crippled" mags just take up more space for the same ammo, so I'd rather have a plain 10 rounder, but curious if people find the larger mags easier to handle.

    Thanks!
    Mark

    Hey Mark,
Welcome to the Competition forum. You'll find a good bit of info on the BB in Competitions in this thread:

    Hope this helps.

I thought the same thing until I had a 10 round mag get hung up on me. Rather than just grabbing the mag and yanking to clear the jam I had to break open the rifle and push it out from the top. Takes a very long time if you are under the timer, further complicated if you are trying to depress the BB, push the mag out and hang on to the rifle.
