Load two or quad for shotgun class

So I've been running 3gun for about a year on and off and I see the benefits of load two but haven't made the move.

I'm debating buying all new twin loading gear but I'm afraid of developing bad habits for real world situations. iE home defense.

What is taught in tactical shotgun classes and do they frown on load two? I don't want to buy all new gear and practice a technique that will not be useful in a home defense situation.

Shotgun is a great example of where the game and the practical use do not line up.

How would you even load 2 during a HD situation? Wear a belt with a bunch of carriers? IMHO, a HD situation would be dealt with a full tube and a side saddle.

Any good instructor can teach you any technique but in most shotgun classes its side saddle and stretchy loop loading. 4 and 6 round caddies are becoming more popular.

If you want to shoot 3 gun, and load 2, forget the tactical class stuff. You will probably put a 10 shot tube on your shotgun to be competitive, so you have 11rounds. If you can't eliminate the HD threat with 11 rounds of buck or slugs, your screwed anyway.

Exactly how many targets are you going to engage in a HD situation? If you think you are going to need more than 8 shots you might want a AR then.

Very good points, I think I'll just keep with my weak hand load and A side saddle. Load two is not a practical skill.

Some 3 gun shooters can pull 4 shells from a belt 4 shell carrier with the weak hand and load keeping the gun mounted. Takes a lot of practice.
More of a practical skill. When I tried to load that way, I had shells flying all over the place! I do have a Velcro side saddle attachment for my competition shotgun, just in case I do ever have to use it for HD.

Learn both. A lot of us did since we started with the weakhand caddy load.
Shooting 3gun will only help you.
One thing you'll notice within the first few rounds in your tactical shotgun class is who shoots competition regularly and who doesn't.

For home defense you could use a plugged hunting shotgun. If you fire two 12 gauge rounds in your house there is going to be no one around for you to be worried about while reloading.

Yes I've got 5 California custom caddies and skd Velcro side saddles. Should have plenty reload options.

I think it will be a waste to switch to load two/quad according to your replies, will save seconds on time but ingrain some bad habits.
