I think I'm going to skip it. Just too much going on with my Dad's wedding coming up, another event scheduled on Sunday, Brandi, other stuff...

And I'm not even unpacked yet! My goal is to have the house set up by Thanksgiving.

This year I've just been messing around, competitively, I think next year I'm going to get a little more serious with practice time and coming to events more regularly. Looks like there are several GSSF events in California every year...so I'll be at those

Going to head out there this morning and try my hand at my first competition.

Update;

I shot like a big pile of cow manure but it was my first time ever and it was a good experience. It let me know what I need to work on to be able to shoot better next time.

It started out nice on Saturday, but then quickly turned wet as the storm clouds moved in around 3PM or so. It came down pretty hard, and the ROs toughed it out and kept the match moving until the timers, and score sheet got so wet that they would no longer function. We ended up calling it quits for about 45 minutes hiding out in the registration office until the rain subsided. By then, most people left, but those who were still around replaced the soaked and warped targets with new, wiped off their guns, and got back to the match.

I was able to complete all 7 of my entries on Saturday, and even learned that my GLOCKs, ammunition, and magazines will all function in the rain.

Sunday was nice and sunny (go figure).

All in all, the attendance came in slightly under last year, at around 330 or so. I just wished I performed slightly better on paper as I was really hoping to make Master before year end. I might have a shot at something in MajorSub, but it's unlikely that there were 10 amateurs, but we'll see what the Prelims say.

I just scored my own sheets and I am pretty sure I will be in last place over all and last in my class. I only shot one class as a starter for me, so I could learn the way of the land. The weather was awesome on Sunday for sure. I showed up about 10:30 and was on the road home just after 12:30. It was a great day for shooting and I would like to thank all the RO's for taking the time to help out this first timer who pulled a lot of shots on my G19. I have some things to work on and I will try again next year or sooner if it comes around sooner.

I will try to make the 1st Sat steel match out there at Piru in Dec.

Yes, Sunday's weather was perfect! There were no lines and I got through with my four shooting classes pretty quickly.

I did shot the major sub class, first time with my new G42 (never fired/practiced). I didn't do so well with it, had too much trigger finger in it and pulled my shots low and to the left at the further targets and steel plates.

Looks like I'll make Master this year after all with a wins in SubCompact, and MajorSub. I wonder which one will give me the bump, and how it will effect the results for my performance in the other divisions.

Master Class shooters, or shooters who have won 3 performance guns are delineated by a "*" next to their name.

This is the 3rd Gssf match I've shot.... Last time I shot the match was 2007, I like the stages but the waiting to shoot totally sucks. You & your partner were kickin A$z I was the dude wearing a small Calguns patch & said what's up to each other haa! I bet you are always up there in placement right?

Since this is your only your 3rd match, making top 10 is quite an accomplishment (I sure didn't do that by my 3rd match), and you should be very proud.

Thank you for the compliment, I assure you, that wasn't always the case. There were many hard days/matches, and we occasionally still have a bad one every now and then. But now, bad is relative. However, this was my 20th GSSF match with my first being in 2010 (you were around long before me). I didn't really get serious about competing at all until the end of 2012 / beginning of 2013, and in all honesty it didn't really all come together for me until this year. Now, I find myself having to work on the little things to shave 1/2 second here, or 1/100 of a second there.

Great video, and I am glad that you decided to jump back into GSSF.

Speed will come with time.
