          5 Dogs Range
          November 2, 2008

Are you a California Series 3-gunner? A dove hunter? Someone who at least has a shotgun in the back of the gun safe? It doesn’t matter, grab that boomstick and come out for a shotgun only trophy match this fall in Bakersfield. 6 stages of clays, paper, and steel using buckshot, birdshot, and slugs. We’ve got it all! USPSA scoring and safety rules will apply, with 3 classes, Open, Tactical, and Pump. Entry fee is $50.00 and there will be an opportunity to sign up for teams the morning of the match for even more bragging rights and trophies.

Can you handle a full weekend of fun? Saturday, November 1 is our sanctioned USPSA Pistol match. Pre-register for the Shotgun Blast and shoot the pistol match for 15 dollars! That’s a 10 dollar savings for non-members. For more info on either match, contact:

Here's your chance to see how much fun you can have with a shotgun. (except for exploding watermelons)

As far as the round count goes I'd bring 250 bird, 50 slugs, and 50 buck. You can always take home what you don't use and if you have to reshoot a stage it's nice to have extra.

Tactical and pump shooters 9 rounds max in the gun no ports, no changing barrel or mag tube lengths during the match are the basic rules. If you have any questions you can look them up in the www.uspsa.org web site.

I have nothing to do with this match just trying to let everybody know about a good time. Having shot 3 gun at 5 Dogs for the last few years a couple of recommendations. 1 Bring a couple of boxes of some heavy #6, bring some spreaders, bring a Mod, and IC choke for your gun.

6 stages and a 300 round count looks like some 50 round stages or more. Be prepared to have fun.

If anybody needs some California Comp shell caddys pm me and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks to Wayde for putting this on. I'm looking foreward to it.

If I go, I'll definitely do the double (pistol match on Saturday). Just makes the drive easier and I can hang out with some friends in Bakersfield that I haven't seen in a while.

round count for various shots (bird, buck, slug)?

Hoping they don't do a huge slug stage (32 slugs required or some nonsense)

                  What is the buckshot for?

is the ipsc match the day before going to be the same stages for the shotgun match? If it's going to be a better ipsc match, intricate stages I would be more inclined to do the pistol too.

                    150 bird

                    30 slug

                    20 buck

This is the current round count I'm sure it could change.

You don't remember the slug house at SMM3G a few years ago do you?
                          20 slugs in one stage.

There was a target malfunction where they did not setup one target.
So they gave me the option to take the miss, or re-shoot it.

                          That's a tough one.
You don't ever take the miss, but do you REALLY want to re-shoot another 20 round slug stage?

The guys on my squad were great.
Everyone chipped in a few slugs and I re-shot it.

40 slugs in the matter of 10 minutes is not necessarily an enjoyable thing.

I did not shoot that match but I have heard many stories about that stage. I was just hoping not to have to go through so many slugs. Money is kind of tight and shoot $45 of slugs in one stage/one match is brutal. It better be a really good stage and not something that I did not feel I got my $45 out of.

I miss the days of paying $1.59 for 5 S&B slugs from Grafs...
