    IDPA points system question

Quick question just to clarify from anyone in the know.

How many points would you get from shooting the 2013 CA State Championship Match in Sacramento?

Should it be 2 points, or just 1 point?

    Thank you

Thats what I kind of thought since the Sacramento website had it listed as a Tier 3 match.

Got a email from IDPA today about the Nationals, and they mentioned I have only 1 point from that match. So I was a little confused.

That match was before the new rulebook went into effect, so IIRC, you would have only received a single point for it. Unless HQ has said otherwise, the tier/points system didn't go into effect until the new rulebook became official on 10/15/13.

I'm pretty sure the match was after the new rulebook came out. I remember seeing a few PE's for moving reloads...

Yep, you're right. Just checked the book, and it says effective 10/1/2013 (before the match). OP should contact both the California Area Coordinator and HQ to request that the proper points be awarded.

Would the regional at Winton last year count toward this years points? Shouldn't that have been worth 1 point?

The Winton match would count, but under the old points system.. 1 pt

IDPA headquarters boned all of us in CA that shot that match. Gave some BS excuse that it is not just the number of shooters and stages, but a bunch of other subjective crap. Those that shot AZ state match got 2 points for less shooters and stages, but the CA state match was only a tier 2 match worth 1 point. I called HQ, and e-mailed Joyce and Robert Ray and got the same crap company line...

You should contact your AC, it is his job to look into these things and get them corrected.

According to who? You were a good one, but generally the AC is HQ's representative amongst the unwashed masses, rather than members' representative at HQ. Significant difference.

I would pursue this more, but it only makes a difference in getting to squad on day 1 instead of day 2. Sucks for some guy out there that is not getting to go because as HQ told me, the match coordinator did not submit the required items for it to be a tier 3 match. (They conveniently could not tell me what was omitted...) I don't blame the match director at all, I think this, like so many other shortcomings in IDPA, belongs squarely on the shoulders of HQ, not on the backs of their VOLUNTEER match directors or safety officers, or whoever else they try to blame.
