Where to practice 50 yard slow fire

Are there any ranges in orange county or surrounding area that have 50 yard pistol ranges?

Raahauge's in Corona has 35yd pistol lanes. Just curious why do you want to shoot pistol at 50yards?

I can't speak for the OP, but shooting a pistol at 50 yards is surprisingly good practice for trigger control in general, as well as for many forms of competition. For example, most are probably unaware but there are many USPSA classifiers that require shots at 50 yards.

He is probably a bullseye pistol shooter and wants to get good practice and a good dope for his sights.

West end gun club is n outdoor range woth 50yard targets on its main rifle /pistol range. You can use that part of the range as a limited member on Fridays / Saturdays and Sundays only.

I was practicing with my pistol at 100 yards, from the 200 yard rifle pad at West End, this evening. I was the last shooter out of the range. I was shooting a 460 Mag with my light loads: 270 home cast hollow point over 10.0 grains of trail boss for 1,000 fps. It was quite fun and makes you focus on what you are doing. My mid loads at 1400 fps seem to be more accurate. I was just shooting a 12" round steel plate. I am not up to bullseye level shooting. I do shoot 3 gun, and it is common to have shots out to 30-50 yards with a semi auto pistol. I also shoot lever action rifle at west end, so I practiced with my lever gun for that.

I took advantage of my membership and took my parents as guests today. They just like to plink, but used to shoot steel pistol matches with me. If you know anyone who is a full member, they could take you along as a guest, and you could shoot in the back area with them or on the main range Mon-Thurs. There were only a few people out there this afternoon.

West End would be a good place to practice. The main range is flat, but has some ravines to walk around to set targets. The private area I use has hills along the rifle area, so the targets are not always level with the shooter. There are some short bays in the back that go to 40-70 yards.

If you haven't been to west end, it is a great facility with very nice people. I used to shoot at Raahauges, but West End won me over. Burro Canyon has private bays that are long, but it seems they are often booked far in advance. Prado is closer to OC, but I don't recall if the berms are that deep.
