Contact Lefty Longridge aka Joe Alesia. He is left handed obviously and an excellent instructor. Semi retired law LASD, does a lot of instruction for law enforcement, competition shooting, new shooter, etc. He also has access to an excellent range in Piru CA which you can see in the deadwood threads. Real nice guy give him a ring or email you will be glad you did

+1 for Lefty. Great guy, great shooter. You can't go wrong with him.

With a title like 1911whore, you must already know the 1911 is better designed for a leftie than a right handed shooter. The only drawback to a 1911 is the slide stop poking through the right hand side of the frame. Once you get it machined down and the frame mitered the 1911 is an awesome platform for us southpaws.

I use my trigger finger to manipulate the trigger, slide stop, and magazine release. Only the safety needs to be ambidextrous. Very fast keeping your shooting grip in tact. This technique also prepares you to pick up any gun, anywhere, anytime, and operate it no matter if it is setup for a lefty or not. manipulating the release with in index finger is also faster IMO. If your interested in revolvers my reload (a copy of Matt Griffin reload) is very fast.

The only place that lefty's are at a disadvantage is in gaming course of fires. It doesn't matter weather it is USPSA or IDPA or others. These COF's are typically setup by right handed people shooting and reloading in manors that benefit their strong hand.

Leftys are not at any real tactical disadvantage. Proper training is beneficial and I hope you find the right guy. Your location might help.

Jeez, it isn't like throwing a ball or swinging at one.

I have taught a few to shoot and lefties go righty in about 10 minutes tops.

My apologies. I never assumed amputees. Carry on.
