The Santa Lucia Sportsmen's Association in Atascadero, CA is hosting a CMP M1 Rifle Clinic and Match on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 8:00 AM. You DO NOT have to be a member of S.L.S.A. to participate. Cost is $40.00 and includes: Instruction, the use of an M1 rifle, targets, ammo, shooting mat, and spotting scope. Shooter must bring eye and ear protection. Shooter should also bring warm clothing, water, and a snack if desired. The course of fire is 50 rounds consisting of: Prone slow fire, 20 rounds; Prone rapid fire, 10 rounds, Sitting rapid fire, 10 rounds, Offhand, 10 rounds. If you already have a U.S. service rifle and ammo, you may bring and use it at a reduced cost. Depending upon amount of shooters, the match usually wraps up around 11:00 - 12:00.
Upon completion participants will receive "CMP Certificate of Achievement" and documented "Proof of familiarity with the safe handling of firearms and range procedures" that satisfy the CMP requirement for purchasing surplus rifles.
Participants must be U.S. citizens with no felonies. Participants must bring a signed AND NOTARIZED form available from the S.L.S.A. website, or you will not be able to shoot! Follow the below link for more information.
