Interesting IDPA rule changes proposed

Interesting proposed changes in the IDPA rulebook (http://members.idpa.com/Content/Rules/mywujz25.qyt.pdf). Some of the ones I found of particular note:

• All striker fired guns will be legal in SSP (i.e. Glocks, XDs, M&Ps, etc.)
• SSP max gun weight increased to be equal with ESP (good news for you CZ SP01 shooters)
• Some changes in range commands. Shooter is expected to be ready within 15 seconds after Load and Make Ready command
• If shooting in the open on way to cover, you can initiate an emergency reload while in the open if you go dry
• Retention reloads renamed "Loaded Cylinder/Chamber Reloads," and officially prohibited from being mandated in scenario-type stages
• Changes to the number of reloads allowed on your belt, depending upon capacity of your mags (i.e. if using <8-round mags, you can now have three on your belt instead of the original two)
• Glocks can now run metal guide rods in SSP
• Classifier times modified. Most are minor changes, but SSP times dramatically changed to require you to shoot much faster to move up in class
• Big changes in how sanctioned matches are run, including a parroting of the USPSA appeals process (and the $100 appeal fee)

Note that these are preliminary, based on the first draft of the rulebook re-write. The comment period just closed, so there will probably be some changes in some of the new rules proposals.

Havent shot IDPA in a long time but I think those changes are long overdue. Good job by the Tiger Teams.

43 oz. for a SSP 9mm daily carry gun, doesn't that detract from the IDPA founding principle?
For a bone stock CZ SP-01, changing the rubber grip to factory plastic grip, and using the 10-rd mag makes it 38.9 oz. I guess people with 19 rd mags in free states don't want to buy 10 rounders just for IDPA.

I want a new division-Bone Stock Factory Configuration Division.

Well, it's the founder's wife who is authorizing these changes. Besides, CDP was bumped up to 42oz. a couple of years ago, and ESP has been at 43 for awhile.

Won't cry over that, but remember that these are the pistol rules. DMG was always treated as separate (and provisional).

I think it's been provisional for years now. To me, it sounds like it's dead. I shot an IDPA DMG match here in Virginia once at a local club outside Roanoke. To be honest, it sucked pretty bad.

How does it hurt revolvers? The proposed rules simply say that you can't make a shooter do a retention reload if it is a scenario stage. You can still do one if you want.
