    IDPA Classifier

Do you have to shoot the Classifier for each division you plan to shoot? I usually shoot SSP and SSR at Piru and hope to do the Classifier soon. Do I need to plan on shooting both guns the same day?

    Thanks in advance.

During local matches they'll usually default to your highest classification. You need to shoot a classification score in any class you want to compete in at a state match or higher

Exactly! I MUST shoot the Classifier, I just need to know if I need to plan on shooting all the divisions I want to shoot or does the 1 classifier for say, SSP Sharpshooter make me a Sharpshooter in ALL divisions?

At sanctioned matches you not only need to be classified in the division you shoot, It has to have been done within the past year. The exception is master class. You need to shoot a classifier for every division that you plan to compete in a sanctioned match.

Yes you will have to classify in each division seperately. In your case SSP and SSR to get a classification for each.

You don't necessarily have to classify in both at the same time unless you plan to/would like shoot both divisions as a classified shooter in sanctioned matches.

As for shooting both divisions the same day you will need to check with the range. At the last classifier I shot they only had enough range time to allow shooters to classify in one division (they do run multiple classifiers throughout the year though).

You are supposed to be classified in each division in which you want to compete. If you compete in a division in which you do not hold a classification, then you are placed in the highest class that you hold in any other division (i.e. you're unclassified in CDP, Expert in SSP and Sharpshooter in ESP...you would then be put in Expert in CDP if you competed in that division).

Most sanctioned matches will only let you compete in a class in which you've shot a classifier within the past 12 months.

Is it really even feasible to shoot 2 divisions at a regional?
