I know there are some wheelgun people on this board. icore.org seems to be a fairly well-kept secret. A lot of good people are members, and the International Revolver Championship is here in Ca again this year. A lot of us have been into IPSC/USPSA in the past, maybe even IDPA. The ICORE scoring system emphasizes accuracy, then speed. If you enjoy shooting a wheelgun, and want to shoot with like-minded people, take a look on the site and find a match near you. Paper targets used are NRA D-1, and various steel.

Smith and Wesson supports the match very well. Lots of good people, and the price to get started is lower than some.

You can also see the best revolver shooter ever at the IRC, some guy named Jerry - between Morro bay and SLO in june....

We shoot ICORE in N Cali at the Richmond Rod and Gun Club. Our affiliation is the Richmond Hot Wheels. We are holding the Southwest Regional match again this year at our range in May a few weeks before the big event in Morro Bay. Limited to approx 85 shooters, still lots of "slots" left before being sold out. If interested check out http://www.richmondhotshots.com and there is an app for that match there.

I've shot the IRC 3 times in the last 4 years.. We have a very competitive club. Last year we had 3 shooters in the top 20.. I came in at 28th in Limited with a 6 shooter

You guys suck. Like I don't waste enough money already...

I dropped off my 66-1 4" shooter at a gunsmith just to get new sights installed, the ones on it would have pushed me into open class, I want to shoot limited. Alas, the gunsmith is so popular (he's good) that it could take a month to get it back. *sigh* But I want to use this gun, I like it the most for what I think this type of shooting will be - combined with my nice Galco pancake & CR speedbelt I'm good to go. Just need a few more Speed Comp II's (6 would be enough, yes?).

I emailed Tom that I was going to try and come out today and watch the practice, got sidetracked by an unexpected gun purchase down south (model 65 thread). Sadly I can't bring the gear & shoot just yet because of the above, so I'm just going to watch. I've watched a few IPSC matches before... are the ICORE ones mixed in? Is there a special "slow new guys with wheelguns" practice time?

What I'm concerned about is if my ammo will meet the 120,000 - I don't reload (yet), and I like shooting the cheapie 125gr TMJ Miwall reloads. By my calculations this will put me at like 118,000, a hair under -- can I still practice with these rounds? Are there some known cheap reloads that are ICORE compliant I could look into? (living space - or lack thereof - keeps me from all the reloading gear)

Being too far from there, I can't tell you about the chrono.....

Some places care about power factor even in club matches, most don't - at least in my experience. If you came out a kicked everyone's rearand were using low powered (obvious) ammo, people might care. Given the skill level of most of the guys I've met from up there, it might be a few months before you get to that level.

Start the stage with loose rounds, then go to speed loaders. Round counts high enough to run you out at that point would be rare - except speed loaders sometimes get dropped or fire before you get them into place. When you can afford it, get your 686 cylinder cut for moon clips, or get a 686+ and get it cut. Or get a 625, 610, or 627..... You might need a couple of backups to round out the collection.

It will likely be a learning experience at first...

I'm planning on it. Last year I had some family issues - Geneva's mother passed on the Thursday night of the IRC. I might even take the time to practice - like the first time ever! Being involved in working the match has usually taken most of my energy. Hope to see you there!
