Turlock USPSA

Any valley shooters know if they really do have a USPSA match in Turlock this Sunday? It's on the Area 2 calendar, but I'm not sure how up to date it is?

They are not currently listed as a club on USPSA.com and have shown no match results since 2006.

There are no more USPSA matches at Turlock. Internal politics caused the Turlock USPSA club to be disbanded. They now shoot on the first Sunday of the month at the Oakdale Sportsmans Club. This is now designed as a "FUN" match to get more shooters into USPSA. Its only $10.00 to shoot. Just a gun, ammo and three mags are needed. You don't even have to have a holster (just grab the gun off a barrel or table and stage your spare mags the same way). Its a VERY popular match. Check the site below.

I've been wanting to head out to the Oakdale matches. What's the protocol, just show up and shoot or is there some safety class that needs to be done ahead of time? I've done a few USPSA matches at Chabot already.

I'm familiar with the Oakdale shoot on the 3rd Sunday..and yes...they are a great bunch of people. If the safety meeting for the 1st Sunday is the same, it's only a 15 minute talk before you head out to the bays.

The full USPSA match is on the third Sunday. There a fun match on the first Sunday of the month. I know a lot of folks who use the first Sunday match as a "test" base for new equipment.....Or they just "wrenched" on their gun and want to see if the wrenching worked! They do have a "safety briefing" for new shooters. 22LR handguns are welcome too at the fun match!

For the Oakdale "fun" shoot, are there classes (production, limited, open) or is it just show up, shoot, and have a good time?

Also, are there any other ranges between Sac and Modesto and the surrounding area that do USPSA competitions other than Oakdale?

Everyone is placed in "Production" class for the computer. Makes scoring easier. Just show up and shoot! The winner on stage #3 last Sunday used a Ruger 22LR handgun. Here's the beauty of it.....No one complained.....Everyone knows its a fun match.

Awesome. Maybe I'll have to try it soon. I want to get into competitive shooting and the fun shoots seem like a great way to ease into the competition world

The next Oakdale Fun Match is 2/3/13. (AKA Super Bowl Sunday - you'll be home in time for the game). There are 3 stages. Each stage can have a maximum of 20 rounds. So you'll need at least two 10-round magazines. More is better.

The USPSA shoot on the third Sunday is four stages with a maximum of 40 shots per. Not sure if that's a rule, but I don't think I've seen more than that on a stage.

As a first time shooter, you need to be there by 10:00 - latest.
