IDPA questions.

Part 1:

Can you use a Glock G35 w/ a factory length 9mm conversion barrel in ESP?

I was looking over the rules for ESP and it states:

"Internal accuracy work (includes: replacement of the barrel
with one of factory configuration, the use of Accu-Rails, the
use of Briley Bushings)."

Does not mention caliber.



For SSP it says:

"Internal accuracy may be worked to include replacement of
barrel with one of factory configuration and original caliber."

It does mention caliber.


I know I can always down load the .40 to minor but I was just wondering.


Part 2:

From my the results from the classifier held at Sac Valley last weekend, I was able to pull a Sharpshooter time w/ a G21 and full power loads in SSP. This was only the second time I ever shot IDPA (first classifier). Looks like my time shooting USPSA might of helped. Now that I understand how the scoring works, I think I can do better next time.

Is SS something to be proud of or is it like being in USPSA C class in Limited?

Anyway, I joined IDPA that night.

What do I need to do to get these classifier scores to count? What is the process of classification in general?

I'm pretty sure that "factory configuration" also refers to caliber.

Sharpshooter is rather good for it being your second classifier. It usually falls somewhere between B and C divisions in IPSC.

As for your scores, you will receive a Classification card with your new member packet. Once you receive it, take it and a copy of your Classifier scores with you the next time you shoot at Sacramento. One of the club officers can sign off on your classification. You can also use the copy of your scoresheet as proof if you shoot a sanctioned match like a Regional or State championship.

For ESP I belive you can convert to a 9mm. SSP must stay the same. I have seen on the XD-40 a 9mm swap. (or was that USPSA) But I think you would be better off if you load your own to keep it in 40, and load to the 125 PF. Lighten your spring and vuwala hardly any recoil and will still shoot fast.
If you use a 200gr bullet in your 40 you only need like 650fps to make PF. I shoot a stock XD-9 and made ESP expert. (didnt mean to thoe)

How long should the membership process take? I would like to get my classifier scores recorded by the next SDPS match.

Dang, that's not right dude. I signed up after the last Sac Valley IDPA classifier and received my package in about a week. It might be worth it to give them a call.
BTW, is the next match a classifier also? I don't think IDPA sends their scores to HQ like USPSA does. Once you shoot a classifier match and get your score, the MD will sign your card and that's what you take to future matches. A more experienced hand can correct me if I'm wrong.

Usually it only takes a couple of weeks. You still have about two weeks before the next Sacramento match, so I would be surprised if it doesn't arrive by then.

it was 6 weaks for me. Thanks to the guy that sined me up, He forgot to send in the paper work.

Here is an update on my membership process.

I called them on 3/26/08 and they said it was shipped about a month ago but I never received it. I said OK, can you please send me another package. They said no problem it will be in the mail the next day or so.

I called them today just to see if it was in route.

I guess they are now out of hats. I ask them to send me everything but the hat if that is what they are waiting on. I basically just want the classification card so I can get that signed off this weekend. Is there any where else I can get one of these cards. IDPA did give me my member number over the phone.

So far I am not impressed with these processes. They do not seem as organized as USPSA.

Have some patience. Every organization has the occasional snafu. Normally IDPA is MUCH more prompt and organized than this.
