Basic Pistol Courses near Sacramento

I'm looking for a course to take to learn the fundamentals of handgun shooting, and iron out any problems I may have developed on my own. A quick google search turns up this place: http://www.handgunshootingacademy.com/HSAHome.aspx

I'm wondering if any of you have experience with or knowledge of this instructor? If you do have something negative to say, please PM me as I don't want to negatively affect his reputation or business.

I'm looking for a course to help with shooting fundamentals (grip, sight picture, trigger pull, etc), not a "combat" course (slicing the pie, clearing rooms, using cover).

I'm unsure whether the NRA Basic Pistol course or the Level 1 course would be best for me. Firearm safety has been drilled into me my whole life, and I have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of shooting pistols.. I want to have a qualified instructor to ensure that I'm applying these concepts correctly and to correct any bad habits I may have acquired that I'm unaware of. Safety is of course the first priority when handling and shooting firearms, however I would be disappointed if I paid for an 8 hour class that was 90% off-range discussion of handgun mechanics (how to operate the mag release, safeties, etc etc) and safety, and only 10% hands-on instruction. For this reason I think the Level 1 course would be a better choice for me.

Please let me know what you think of the HSA (or any other instructors/classes near Sacramento), and whether you think I'd be better off going with the NRA Basic Pistol course or the Level 1 course. Thanks

I took a few of Gray Ops courses, the instructors are very friendly and experienced. I even introduced my landlord (who had no firearms experience) to some of the classes, and he loves it.

of course, almost all classes will cover somewhat tactics.
Tactics will start taking over as you move up to the more advanced ground.

remind you that all handguns are extremely popular, it is very common that the class becomes full two weeks before deadline...

I used Wes for my LTC qualification. He is a very good instructor and brought real world experience to the class.

If you are interested in 1:1 instruction, I'm local to you...I usually teach out at SacValley. I teach exactly what you are interested in...the fundamental skills you can take in any direction you wish afterwards

We move at your pace and you'll understand how to self-correct when you are practicing on your own. I cover as much in a couple of hours as you would in a day, but it will cost you about the same.

I have to agree, if you are interested in group classes, you really can't go wrong with Joe or Wes
