My budget is like this, I figure out how much it's going to cost, and then I figure out how long it'll take me clear that much money for something I consider a luxury item. I won't charge luxury items, so I could end up waiting a while.

In our squad, we make fun of each other all the time. I get made fun of the most, but then again, you haven't seen me shoot.

I think this is normal in all squads.
I'll also hazard that you don't make fun of the newbies about their equipment until at least the 2nd or 3rd match, after you know they are hooked.

            Tong,

Concentrate on one gun for now. IPSC and USPSA is already a semi-pricey hobby to begin with. Add in 2 more guns and more than that in ammo, equipment and storage/security items and it gets down right expensive.

Everything on the long guns translates over from the pistol. Learn it and then as money allows, get the long guns you want. Plus, in the meantime, you can try out folks' gear at the range. Find what you like and don't like. You'll never find a more helpful group than IPSC shooters when it comes to loaning guns & gear.

uscbigdawg, Thanks for that advice, it sounds pretty logical. I started the thread kind of so I would know how long I'd need to save before I can do 3 gun, know which stuff to read about, etc.

Thanks for all the great advice guys. It's appreciated.

+1 what Rich said. Get out there with your pistol and start shooting. If you're in L.A. county, there's a match someplace just about every weekend.

I've shot a couple of 2-gun and I'm in the middle of a build for 3-gun now. Yar and Randy (see the 3-gunthread) have given me a lot of imput. Randall is always so busy, so you're lucky to get input from him here.

I hope you know I meant outwardly making fun of new guys which does happen from time to time.

And yes, we are relentless with the regulars about anything that can be made fun of, even haircuts (I have a new one).

Second to what TMC says. We can be pretty unmerciful, but if someone can't take good natured ribbing, then frankly sitting on the couch is maybe better time spent. Seriously though, it's all in fun and it's with people who genuinely care about the sport and one another's performance improving in it. You really couldn't ask to be around a better group of people.
