What is a "Mike" when scoring targets

What is meant by the term "a MIKE" when scoring targets in IDPA / USPSA ? Any ideas ?

    Thanks - Randy.

Copy that ... does it stand for something (just curious) or is it simply a slang term ... ?

        I've never heard it either

hit in the 'A' zone - Alpha
hit in the 'B' zone - Bravo
hit in the 'C' zone - Charlie
hit in the 'D' zone - Delta
          miss - Mike

I think it's just them adopting the NATO phonetic alphabet so the scores aren't misheard / misreported when verbally communicated.

A word you don't want to hear at a match. Be sure to check your hits when you are done shooting, especially 'mikes'

I am not familiar with the term, although I hear it when scoring other shooters.

Oh, no one here misses? Either you are a GM or you shoot too slow.

If ammo wasn't so expensive, I'd have a lot more "mikes" than I currently get now.
