Firearms Training Associates ?

I m thinking of taking some classes @ Firearms Traning Asoociates (www.ftatv.com). Did anyone here take some of the courses they offer? I d like some feedback before I register. Thanks.

Took some classes from them. They are good people. Bill Murphy and his instructors are excellent. FTA is one of few training schools I recommend without hesitation in Southern California.

They provide the low-light training for Surefire. Training is good facility is okay but they make good use of their resources.

Is there other local training facilities that you can recommend for idpa style competition? I would really like to go get some training at frontsight but it won't fit my busy schedule.

Yes, at Prado. Mr. IDPA himself!

I have taken about third of the classes they offer and am working on the others, which will take to the middle or end of next year. Each class is fantastic and I have truly learned a great deal as well as having gained confidence both in the use of my guns, and in using them in a self defense situation.

I highly recommend using them and if you have time make the trip to Bill's GunSite courses.

We have taken their handgun classes and most definitely recommend them. Another benefit is once you take General Handgun you can participate in the End of then Month club, which is basically a half day shooting clinic on the last Saturday of the month. Great way to keep your skills sharp.

I've been to FTA many many times and cant wait to go back. Bill and Cheryl are the best as is the staff there. It's local and Bill is possibly the best in the world at what he does.

Good, solid, safe instruction. Facility is basic but effective. Bill and Cheryl are great people. Bill is an instructor at Gunsite and the classes follow that type of pattern but it's not dogmatic. Some funny stories come out but not a big ego stroke for the instructors. The stories have a point or are used for illustration. Most of the instruction is geared at the beginning thru intermediate levels with a self defense (not competition) slant. There are some more advanced tactics classes and some interesting guest instructors at times. And the prices are very reasonable.

I signed up General Handgun for the wife and I. If everything goes great, I will definitely sign up for some more!
