MustangGreg has the Burris Tac30, maybe he will chime in. I checked it out and it has super nice glass and good field of view. If money is tight I really like my Millet DMS-1.

I run the Trijicon 1-4 Accupoint on 2 of my AR's and a Trijicon 2.5-10 mil dot on the open AR. You will find that trying to go cheap in 3 gun does not yield good results. A big 3 gun match can cost $1,000 by the time it's all said and done. The last thing you want is for your scope to lose zero in the middle of a stage...

I have a buddy who uses the Nikon M-223 for hog hunting and I took a quick look through it. It is a very nice scope with good glass and easy-to-adjust knobs. I don't know all the Nikon reticules but his had the crosshair and BDC out to 600 so it may be the same one you're asking about. It was not illuminated so hard to pick up when moving quickly.

I have the Burris TAC-30 and would highly recommend it for budget gunners. It has great glass, BDC out to 600, and clearly visible reticule. It has illumination that tends to wash out in direct sunlight but the reticule is large so you never lose it. And the illumination knob sucks. But, it's hard to find a better scope in that price range. The TAC-30 replaced my TR24G.

OT question: Were you stationed at Ft Polk or Ft Vincenza?

Burris is a good choice, I have heard alot of good things about it. Millet DMS is also
another good choice. I run the Millet DMS on my HD rifle and the Burris XTR on my 3 gun rifle. As far as spending a lot of $$, I and a lot of other shooters I know ran the Simmons Diamond Pro 1.5-5 for years with no problems. It was a $59.00 scope. We called it the Benny Hill special. A lot of better information is on the Brian Enos Forums about scopes for 3 gun.

I might be able to make a Meopta happen too.

I am running the Meopta K-Dot.

I can recommend it for glass clarity, good 1x, and excellent daylight illumination.

Burris Tac 30. For the money you can't beat it.

I was ready to buy a TR24 (had cash in hand) and SuperSet schooled me on the Tac30.

                    I love it.

Now that the Tac30 is available on sale at various times from Midway, the Millet DMS is a has been. Cough up another 100 and get muchhhh better glass for your money.

The TR24 is some good glass. The quality is also better.

But then again, it is over TWICE the amount of money.

Midway is always having discount coupons, so you may be able to save 10% to 20% on items if you find the correct coupon.

I've heard the Vortex PSTs are nice. Anyone have one to comment about it.

In my opinion after looking through both I'd prefer a BDC reticle at the distances we shoot down here. The MOA drops match up pretty darn close to both xm193 and 77 grain smk with a 50ish/200 zero. I was surprised.

No doubt about it the Trijicon is a nicer piece as unit, but functionally I think the Tac 30 holds its own as well.

Another option is to go with an Eotech or Aimpoint and shoot Tac Irons/Limited instead...

                              TAC 30

TAC 30 hands down. The M223 doesn't even come up in 3gun scope conversations. From all the reviews I've read everything is positive. 3Gunners are declaring this the best entry\mid level scope out right now. Just look at all the online retailers and you'll see they are sold out almost everywhere. I'll summarize what I have read.

                              Pros
                              -Great glass for the price
                              -True 1x
-Excellent FOV, better than some higher-end scopes
-very bright daylight illumination (compared to other 2-500 $ scopes)
-length and weight (shorter and lighter)
-reticle is excellent for hoser stages and sub 400 yd targets.
-reticle is very fast in acquiring target. Very important in 3 gun when you are running and shooting most of the time (comparable to EOTech and Aimpoint)
-BDC reticle is right on for most 5.56 ammo
-low profile turrets (less snag and drag)
                              -Burris Warranty and Cust Service
                              -price point

                              Cons
-Does not have locking zero feature.
-no tacti-cool looking combat turrets with audible clicks.
-illumination adjustment appears where most of the cost saving was made as it is not the best system.
-reticle dots too big for longer range targets greater than 450 yds.
                              -current availability.

Instead of the M223 maybe a closer competitor would be the Leatherwood Hi-Lux.

I was set on buying the TAC 30 but getting impatient. If I can't find one by next week I will pay the extra $200 for the Viper PST. Here in the Bay Area the TAC 30 will fit the bill at almost any 3 gun event as we do not have access to 400+ ranges. Most are 25-100 yd engagement. I'm still new to 3gun myself so if you want to practice or meet up at an event let me know.
