    .45 Recommendation for CMSA

I decided to mix my two favorite hobbies (horseback riding and shooting) and join CMSA (Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association). Competition involves riding a horse at a fast speed and shooting a single action .45 revolver at targets. Fastest time with best accuracy wins. Wanted to see if anyone had some good recommendations for single action 45s that would be the most accurate and easy to fire with one hand. I only have .22 and .357 mag revolvers. I've been eyeballing Ruger Vaqueros.. any suggestions?

That seems difficult.... perhaps an uzi? I cant believe theres a Shooting associaton that does this! WOW, its competetive Amish Drive-bys...

have you checked out a Colt Army? the actions are second to none.. a little pricey, but you can find some later pieces that arent so "collectable" that can be used...

Other than that The Ruger Blackhawks are pretty cool too... and super wallet friendly.

In my limited experience I have heard they shoot .45 Colt blanks to pop balloons. I believe the Ruger Montado was designed specificly for SASS mounted shooting. Check it out here: http://www.sassnet.com/mounted_news.php

      Have fun,

There was an episode of Shooting USA that just covered this. Is go their website or for the show Cowboys (outdoor life network) for the info you're looking for.
