Gearing up for Front sight

I am finding myself gearing up for the front sight classes are any of you other guys doing the same?

I did my gearing up last year when I went and started shooting competitively. I shot the 4 day rifle and here are my tips.
Don't bother with a chest carrier because you will never need more than 3 mags in between water breaks. Belt carrier is the way to go.
Dont spend a lot on your flashlight setup as the night shoot is very short.
Knee and elbow pads are required.
If you want to distinguishly graduate consider a 1-4x scope or some sort of magnifier with your red dot sight.
For the skills test make up time getting into position and take time squeezing the trigger.
Clean your gun every night, I was lazy to clean the gun after the night shoot that the next day my barrel started to keyhole.
If flying you can mail your ammo to the hotel.
Clothing is extremely important since the weather in the high desert can be crazy.

Don't forget sunscreen. It would make for a long week to get a bad sunburn after Day 1.

My Stepdaughter and I will be going to the 4day pistol and CCW class,as well as 4day rifle this year. I am also hoping to get out to the 2 day tactical pistol class. I hear that is very fun.

I've taken 14 days of classes this year already, mostly once a year advance classes. there's a few changes this year for the normal 4 day classes. No more rotating targets or night shooting in the handgun,rifle or shotgun classes
The restrooms are almost completed they were setting the septic tanks last week the building is completed and power is on.
Good luck,be ready to learn alot,go to bed early,do your dry practice,take lots of notes,eat a good dinner, if you stay focused and relaxed you'll leave with the tools that you need to become a better shooter

as sootytom (i think i was in a couple of classes with him this year) has mentioned there have been some changes at the beginning of the year.

they have built more ranges in phase 2 to accommodate the increasingly large number of students. those ranges do not have turning targets so they had to do away with them for consistency. an instructor said that the turning targets made people rush to get their shots off. there was also some mention of maintenance issues or something.

there is no more gatorade on the ranges too.

For those who have taken the 4 day pistol classes, about what percentage continues on for the 4 day course compared to those leaving after 2 days?

Just curious since right now my work schedule will only me to take a 2 day course this spring/summer, but later in the year (after Oct) I can take a 4 day course. I just don't feel like waiting that long and would rather take a course now to get some time in.

my guesstimate is that maybe 10% leave after two days. if you have basic familiarity with handguns, don't waste your time and money with the two day class.

I agree with the 4 day as opposed to only 2.
1. If your using a certificate, most of them are only good for your 'first' visit to front sight.
2. The two days Is simply the first 2 days of the 4 day class, simply not showing up on day 3/4.
As a result you cannot graduate from a 2 day class
And I'm order to take 'any' of the other classes you 'must' graduate the 4-day, which goes for rifle or handgun at least.
No night shoot any longer for the 4-day.
If you have a membership the cost of doing the 2-day isn't a problem really since there no additional cost aside from the trip itself and ammo anyway. Otherwise you'll just do the 2-days again when you go for the 4-day
I went in mid January. Which it was apparent they were trying to adjust to a few of the changes to how the class was operated, but on that note it did not detract from the training.

You cannot take the 2-day tactical or advanced without being a 'graduate' of the 4-day, the ccw you have to attend the 4-day, dont think you actually have to graduate though
