Hello, Im new and Im trying to find out if any organization allows .380acp for competition pistol matches? Im trying to use what I have at this time if possible. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I don't think many do. However, if you showed up for your first match at my IDPA match with a .380, I could care less. Most clubs are not going to sweat the rules on a new guy who is just brining what he has. And if they do, then I probably wouldn't want to shoot there anyway.

Now if you show up and you beat everyone, then yeah, maybe they will say something!

None of the sanctioned organizations, like USPSA/IDPA/Steel Challenge/3 gun, allow .380acp. One reason is that falling steel is calibrated to a 9mm minor power floor of 125,000 (velocity times bullet weight). Typically club level local action matches may allow sub calibers, most allow .22LR for the kid squads.

I believe that IDPA allows it for back up gun division, you would need to check the rule book. Not may clubs run BUG matches though.

.380 will not make power factor. This is the reason as it was explained to Me when I asked the same question. BUG match is where it's at for the .380.

We will allow you to shoot with what you have. I would, however advised you to get a real gun at first opportunity. Corona Sportsmens Club. Or go to my thread here.
