    Voodoo Tactical vs. TAG

Okay, I have a question for you guys. I didn't know where to post this and thought this would be the best place to get my answer. I am looking at buying either the TAG Rampage or the Voodoo Tactical Plate Carrier. Which one do you guys like better? I like the idea of a cummerbund to distribute the weight on the carrier (TAG Rampage.) I also like the way the Voodoo is set up. It looks like my soft inserts would fit better in it. The Voodoo is also half the price. They are both 1000D Cordura so there is no issue there. So, what do you guys think?

BTW I will be using Level IIIA kevlar inserts along with Ceradyne Level III Plates inside the carrier.

      WOW. that was incredibly helpful.

OP- you should check over on Lightfighter.net if any reviews have been posted before. Tons of good info over there.

Ever think that the OP would like to know what other folks are actually using instead of keeping it in the closet for what goes bump in the night.

Wow! $400 for the carrier, hard armor plates AND soft armor backers? That's crazy cheap. I will look into it more and get back to you.

          *update*

I decided that isn't for me because I would like to have some side protection that my soft armor would provide. I know it wouldn't stop a rifle round but I would still like knowing it would stop most pistol rounds.

I cant speak about Voodoo gear but I have some TAG stuff and its top notch. Is there a shop you were can try these plate carries on? Its a huge investment to buy something that you think might work well on paper but it ends up not fitting you well.

This. There are good detailed reviews of various plate carrier options over there with plenty of pictures.

I'm assuming you already put some thought into the intended use for the PC. Training classes? SHTF? There's also consideration into the expected threat in your environment. If there's an opportunity to try the carriers on, similar to the setup you're considering, that would really help, since it sucks to find out in unique body positions that your load-bearing setup has issues.

They have the cumberbund support and side insert availability. If you find out the size of the side pockets for inserts, post it or let me know, cause I'd like to know as well.

                  Hope this helps.

I do like the 5.56 mag pockets on both sides of the vest on the VooDoo version.

TAG is not bad. I didn't like some of their pouches but their plate carriers seem to be top notch. I've done some searching and all have had nothing too negative to say except for issues in regards to shipping/availability. From what I've read, this has been solved.

It won't hold the larger ESAPI side plates but I had spoken, via PM, to the guys over at Ares Armor who offered to whip something up for me to mod the Rampage.
