Tactical Handgun Sat night and Sun Am

    Hey All!!!
Glad to be back on line! Sorry I was away for so long but my PC went bye bye and everytime I had the bucks to replace it, something in my house (costing five hundred bucks of coarse) would break.

On to the shooting stuff! This Saturday night we (The Corona Sportsmens Club) will be hosting a night tactical handgun as well as our usuall Sunday morning match. The same fifteen bucks gets you both. You may use weapon mounted or handheld lights, whichever you preffer. Bring a minimum of two hundred rounds and four mags or speedloaders for the wheelies. Holster and appropriate ammo carriers as well. Be sure to dress warm as it gets colder than Nancy Pelosi's sheets at night. For the day shoot bring water, snacks and whatever else you may need as we are quite a ways from the nearest 7/11.

No magnum or jacketed hollowpoint ammo is allowed as we shoot mostly at steel. The match begins a 0900 for the day match and 1700 for the night shoot, however it's best to get there a little early to get signed in and safety briefed. Call or Pm for directions if you want to go or just have a question.
Thanks and hope to see you all there. Did ya miss me??

When shot at steel jacketed hollowpoints tend to seperate from their jacket upon impact. The (now jagged ) piece of the jacket can go flying back at you or at bystanders and injur anyone they hit. Fully jacketed rounds however seem to be fine as are lead.

We do the day shoots on the first Sunday of every month and the night match is typicaly the Saturday evening before. Same entry fee of fifteen bucks gets you both. You will need a good (or at least decent) flashlight. The five dollar ones with the disney characters on the side dont work so well.

What are the night matches like. I regularly shoot the night matches at SSA when they have them. Is it a ipsc run and gun style match? Will a veteran match shooter find it challaging.

I understand it's mostly steel and I am liking that. I just want to make sure it's more run and gun and less stand and shoot (ala steel challenge). I also have quite a bit night match experience so no problem there.

If it's fun I will definately come out with some of my buddies.

As its a night match and shot with flashlights under low light conditions, we do a little less moving than during the daytime, for safety reasons but it's still run and gun. As to wheather or not youll find it challenging you will have to be the judge of that.

We are a private gun club and as we dont really want people going there we keep the location off the site. That's why I have people PM me for directions as it's only those interested in shooting with us that know where we are. PM me if you really want to shoot on Jan 2nd.

Am I reading the rules correctly where semi auto pistols must be loaded to no more than 6 round capacity?

                          I did!

You were quite helpful several months ago in providing info...and I finally had made it up for two of your Tac Pistol day shoots (and I heard you wern't there). Still missin' you haha.

That night shoot sounded cool, we had too many Dr appointments for my mom that weekend to go have fun.

Just wanted to add for those thinking of shooting with your group, I have enjoyed it each time. Great people, safely and smoothly run, and great fun!!

Nice improvements at your range this year too. Well done.

Hope to see you next year. Thanks.

Only for the Limited division shooters. Unlimited can load up to ten rounds and shoot till you hit. I will be posting on the next match today.

OK that sounds reasonable. Most of us are 3 gun or uspsa shooters. So if we run our iron sighted uspsa guns loaded to 10 rounds in the mags it should be OK.
