NCPS 3 Gun Match

The NCPS USPSA Club is having their Memorial Day 3 gun match on
Monday 5/31/10. At the Sacramento Valley Range. Six stages, limited to 60 shooters.

2 long distance stages 200 and 300 yds. This is not beginners match.
NCPS has always put on a great 3 gun match. As they say " If you can shoot a NCPS 3 gun match, you can shoot at the nationals".

Yeah, that was my thought... but the only differences are that I can load 10 in my shotgun and use a bipod on my rifle, so not really a big change.

Late entry..First match using USPSA Multi-Gun rules. Is it worth shooting Major pistol if you're shooting Minor rifle?

Yes, everyone shoots minor rifle with .223, I think it is worth shooting major for pistol, unless you can get all A's. LOL

I want to shoot open, but my shotgun isn't ready yet. The shotgun round count looks like I can get away with loading 9 to start and not be at that big of a disadvantage. Two optics and a bipod look like the way to go.

I'll most likely shoot Open with my Limited .40 and load my shotgun without speed loaders

Stages look interesting. Know your 100/200/300 yard zero, and how to shoot sitting.
Match is almost, if not full.

Good match. Of course it ran too long. Stage 5 sucked. Should of just had rifle only.
Running up that hill was hard on the RO's, and if shooter started on table and worked his way back to berm position, RO had to jump back down short berm. I don't mind running and gunning, but that stage was out of line. It was dangerous. Only one shooter in our squad made it under the time factor. Not good stage design. Stage 6 was fun.

Stage 5 was surprising. After watching gose shot it, I was surprised how long it took, and that definitely changed my plan. I only shot at the long target 2 or 3 times from each position.. hit it just once from the table. I just didn't want to have misses on the closer stuff at the end. I finished in 156.. taking the 2 mikes at the long shots paid off.

They should have been worth more, and penalized more than a 70 yard target.

We all shot it left to right, so there was no RO issues.

I agree with 3GFS (great seeing ya BTW!) that Stage 5 could have used some tweaking and would have moved faster and proved less frustrating if we'd just started with the rifle only portion. Given that setup, 24 targets to hit within 180s would average somewhere around 7s/target. A doable number.

Only 18/51 shooters did not zero out on that stage so just some constructive criticism for future matches.

Or they could have done with just two positions for the rifle.
