Carbine Course III (Advanced)

Date : July 10th and 11th, 2010 0830 HRS to 1630 HRS

Instructors: J. Paletta, A. Moe, G. Gray

Location: Sacramento Valley Shooting Center


This is an ADVANCED Course which will cover overview of emergency and tactical reloads as well as primary to secondary transitions, locating and moving to cover, team communication / shooting with a team member, moving and shooting, multiple target engagement, SBU, vehicle dismounts, room clearing, threat and non-threat engagement, identifying and announcing threats and identifying / clearing malfunctions.
Please make sure your rifle is zeroed as this will be a very fast paced course and will not allow time for zeroing.



Please familiarize yourself with our MISSION STATEMENT so you will know what to expect from the instructor and what we expect from the student.



All payments due Five days prior to course. There will be a fifty percent cancellation fee, unless prior arrangements have been made with Stone Cobra Tactical staff.

Needed:

Good attitude/Mentally prepared, AR-15 series rifle / carbine (To be inspected by Instructor), Eye/Ear protection, 1500 rounds rifle / 400 rounds handgun, Handgun with strong side holster, Minimum 3 rifle magazines, Pants with cargo pockets (Recommended), Knee/elbow pads (Highly Recommended), Tactical Gloves, Hat / Sunscreen, Water / Hydrate! Hydrate!

Weather does not dictate the fight, nor should it affect your training!

Bring your lunch; we will be eating on the range!

This class is not until July and all ready starting to fill up. If you are interested, we are only accepting 16 students. We are down to only ten spots left. For the 16 students, we will have three instructors on the line. This will be a fast paced class with a lot of information in two days. Make sure you hydrate and bring lots of water! Saturday night, we can plan on going out to dinner as a class. Anyone want to take this on as far as scheduling and getting a count on participation and preference of restaurants?

Instructor Bio's for the Carbine III Course

Jason Paletta

Jason has over eleven years of law enforcement experience with the last six years being assigned to his department SWAT Team as an Operator where he is still currently assigned. Jason is a certified Armorer for Glock handguns and the AR-15 series rifle and carbine. Jason's past assignments consist of Department Range Master, Gang Investigator, Tactical Baton Instructor, and Taser Instructor.

Jason currently has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and has been a firearms instructor since 2003 for a Northern California P.O.S.T. police academy. Along with Jason's firearms experience, he is a Executive Board Member for the Northern California Gang Investigators Association.

During his role as an instructor, Jason has taught courses such as officer down drills, active shooter drills along with basic and advanced tactics with the use of firearms. Prior to Jason's law enforcement career, he served as a weapon squad team leader with the 82nd Airborne Division in the U.S. Army where he was also tasked with teaching tactics and being a firearms instructor. With Jason's past experience and training, he has taught firearms skills to novice firearm handlers at the police academy to the veteran law enforcement officer.

Aaron Moe

Aaron is a full-time police officer, for a North Valley law enforcement agency. Aaron has over 13 years of law enforcement experience. During his career Aaron has held the following assignments, patrol officer, gang investigator, SWAT Team Member, firearms instructor, and Sniper. Aaron has extensive experience in providing both tactical and firearms training to law enforcement personnel.

Gordon Gray

Gordon Gray is an Adjunct Instructor in Administration of Justice with a Northern California Community College where he instructs at the POST Basic Academy in Firearms. Gordon has worked in Public Safety for the past 32 years and recently retired from a department in central California of approximately 400 sworn personnel, which is noted for its challenging work environment due to its high crime rate. With years of experience in diverse police settings, he has held several assignments such as: Uniformed Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Narcotics, Street Crimes Unit member (Conducting high profile street level drug interdiction, Gang impact, Prostitution, and regular operation in a plainclothes capacity to purchase narcotics from street level dealers), Traffic Officer, SWAT Team Member, and Major Collision Investigator. He holds an Advanced Certificate from the CA Peace Officer’s Standards and Training commission and was certified by his department as a Master Police Officer.

In 2000, Gordon was honored to be chosen by his department as “Officer of the Year” and in 2009, received the department’s “SWAT Service Medal” for his service of 21 years on the SWAT Team. While on the SWAT Team, Gordon served as an Assistant Team Leader on the Sniper Team where he was responsible for the monthly firearms training, scheduling, and maintenance of the sniper weapons. Gordon is a certified FBI, California POST, and NRA Law Enforcement Range Master and Firearms Instructor in Handgun/Shotgun and Patrol Rifle.

Gordon also has received training and has experience in Executive Protection, FBI Post Blast Investigations, and is a member of several professional organizations, NRA, National Association of Tactical Officer’s, and the American Sniper Association.

My brother and I signed up for this class. I'd taken Carbine 2.5 with Stone Cobra Tactical and I had so much fun. We are taking Carbine I, II, and III. If you're a beginner or intermediate, this is your chance to take three classes within three months. Humbly to say, I just love to do what I think I'm good at. SCT is highly recommended!!! If I could help in anyway, I will because you are my brother.

The prerequisite for this course is you must have attended a basic and intermediate carbine course from a recognized training company. We will waive the prerequisites if you are currently a LEO or Military.

Unfortunately, I am not current LEO or Military. I am former military (USMC-0311), and completed the MOUT instructor's course as well as a deployment, but it's been a few years.
I would sign up for your May 15th or June 12th courses, but unfortunately those two weekends happen to coincide with previous engagements (another weeklong tactical course in may, and wedding in June).
If you happen to add another course between now and July, I'd be happy to sign up.

At the end of this year, we will be hosting a competition for past SCT students. This competition will allow you to put everything together and compete for prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. The entry fee will only be $60. The time and date has not been set as of yet, but we will keep you updated.
