That was just my personal experience....and much the opinion of the instructors. I've used it to 100m and beyond it it worked great. For closer work I found it seemed to hamper me a bit. Perhaps something that could be overcome with time. But in a 2-day class I didn't want to lose out on training because I was fighting my gear. That's something to work with in my own time. Instructors were very much proponents of just using the red-dot even out to 3-400m. With their wealth of recent combat experience....who am I to argue? Once I switched to my irons and freed up my FOV I felt much more comfortable with being able to snap the gun to my next target.
Yeah it's amazing the things you discover about your gear when you get off the square range and put it to use in more realistic situations.

I am aware of the closed bolt issues with full mags and the need to a little give and all that. There was enough give in the spring still when the mags full, and I experience the issue even during reloads when the bolt was locked back. I was rotating 5 different mags during the 2 days and it seemed to be standard issue with all of them.

As a side not to that....this is an issue the instructors also touched on.....in their personal experience they much prefer the USGI mags.
That's weird that they wouldn't load easily on an open bolt. Something's not right there.

Personally I've had good luck with USGI mags so I've never had the urge to buy PMAGs.
