CMP garand comp questions

ok im planning on hopefully trying to get to camp perry next year to shoot in the garand competition. my main thing is i live in oxnard, ca and the only range i know of is shooters paradise and thats an indoors and i think its out to 50 yds but it looks more like 30 yds. is there any where i can shoot for practice there or is there somewhere closer that i can shoot out to 200 yards at most. i know how the course of fire is and i plan on practicing with the garand and my enfield.

The Santa Margarita Gun Club is supposed to have a CMP Garand / Springfield / Vintage Military match on October 10 and October 11. I haven't posted the information yet on http://www.smgunclub.org, but will do so shortly.

But the Burbank Rifle and Revolver Club is closer to you and they hold monthly CMP GSM clinics and matches. You should check there first: http://www.brrc.org

If you're going to go to Camp Perry for Nationals, you should think about shooting in the other matches, too, like the NTI (National Trophy Individual) which is basically the National EIC/LEG match as well as the President's 100. Traveling a couple thousand miles to shoot at Camp Perry, you should definitely take part in those two matches.

Furthermore, I highly suggest you read some primers on the prone and standing positions, primers on how to setup and use the sling, and get some coaching if possible.
