    Muzzle break?

Do many competition shooters use a muzzle brake on a .223? I'm debating on switching my AR DPMS 18" Upper from flash hider to a muzzle brake. I'm curious if it will make much of a difference.

If so, what is a recommended muzzle brake?

    Thanks

Some competitions don't allow muzzle brakes. Many people trade the flash hiders for brakes to get rid of the "evil feature".

I wasn't aware that any competition allowed use of broken muzzles...

Brake: a device that slows or stops something
Break: damage (to something...) as in BROKEN!!!!!

I've never seen a compeition rifle (for 3 gun).. that didn't have a comp on it.

          There's no perfect comp..

certain events like nra highpower will not allow brakes/comps because you have several shooters on the firing line at one time. They would beat each other up with the blast from their comps. (gas venting left and right into the shooters on their left and right). For run and gun stuff like 3 gun they are a pretty good advantage for both the fast hosing stuff and for the long range. Less movement of the gun and you see more in your scope to correct for misses or read wind.
